Located at 2131 S Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60616, Phoenix Restaurant operates as a chinese restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. Google also lists it under dim sum restaurant, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Chicago; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Illinois are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 10 amโ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The 20% off for cash advertised does not apply to combos despite not being written on the menu and confirming with staff several times that the offer was available. Servers are lovely otherwise, food was mediocre at best, the lobster fried noodles were difficult to eat. Questionable cleanliness.

I am not a Dim Sum connoisseur, but I have been to a few places. And I am Japanese, not Chinese or Taiwanese. BUT, YO, THIS PLACE DELIVERED. Every plate was amazing. I had a friend who ordered everything and had to keep asking what the name of each dish was because I wanted to remember. So good. Of course we got bao and it was amazing. But this is the restaurant to try something new. Pan Fried Turnip Cake. Beef Crepe. Har Gao. It alllll served. And sounds like this place offered some dishes that might not be commonly found at other Dim Sum places. Come thruuuuu.

As a big dim sum fan, I thought this place was awesome! We arrived right when they opened and were the first group seated. By the time we finished our meal, the dining room was completely full and there was even a line forming outside, which is always a great sign. Unlike some traditional dim sum restaurants, they donโt use carts here. Instead, you order from a paper menu, which I actually prefer because itโs easier to browse all the options and make sure you donโt miss anything. Everything we ordered was freshly made, looked beautiful, and tasted delicious. We even had to stop and take photos before digging in! The staff was attentive throughout our meal, and the food came out quickly despite how busy the restaurant became. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would definitely come back the next time weโre in Chinatown.

This is the best restaurant in Chinatown and one of the best in Chicago. The food is always spectacular and the service goes above and beyond. We always have three or four waiters servicing our every need with a smile. Very reasonably priced with the highest of quality. You wonโt be disappointed.

We come here quite often for lunch and dinner because they have fairly good and comfortable seating. They are usually busy especially during the weekends so it's best to make reservation. The quality of food is somewhat hit and miss. When they are busy, the quality goes down. Tonight the food was only ok. We didn't like how the lobsters were cooked. We preferred the ginger and green onions much better. We spent more than $450 tonight but once again, the quality was not the best. Service, on the other hand, was very good. She was very helpful taking time to give us suggestions on what to order. Overall, as long as they keep up the quality, this restaurant should meet your expectations.
